Fresh off his legendary VERZUZ battle against Rick Ross, 2 Chainz stopped by the Breakfast Club to chop it up with Charlamagne, Angela Yee, and DJ Envy.
“I rehearsed. I practiced and everything. It meant a lot to me,” 2 Chainz said of his battle on Swizz Beatz and Timbaland’s wildly successful virtual platform.
2 Chainz said that he went into the battle knowing that Ross had the bigger records — records with Jay Z, records with Khaled — but that he was confident in his own work and came in with a lot of respect for his opponent.
“His list has been up in my studio for two weeks. I wasn’t surprised at no songs he played. Y’all f*cking with the right one when you come to this. Listen, he had more pressure than me because he had more material. Y’all talking about 20 hits, right? I played 23 hits,” Chainz said.
“I wasn’t doing rounds. I was just playing hit for hit for hit. I wasn’t going back and forth with no catalog,” he continued.
Charlamagne said that Billboard scored the battle 11-10-4, in favor of Rick Ross and 2 Chainz expresses his gratitude for being there.
“I’m glad I was there to celebrate with him, that’s the most important thing.”
After his fiery VERZUZ talk, Tity Boi announced he has a new album on the way titled So Help Me God, and Collegrove 2 with Lil Wayne will also be dropping this year.
Last night, 2 Chainz previewed his new song “Money Maker” during VERZUZ.
