One of the victims from the Astroworld Festival has been declared brain dead.
22-year-old Bharti Shahani has been in the hospital fighting for her life on a ventilator, but doctors believe that she will most likely be the ninth fatality from last week’s tragedy.
The Texas A&M senior attended the concert with her sister and cousin, but they had become separated during the surge. Her younger sister, Namrata, was safe, while Bharti was crushed by the crowd.
Bharti was rushed to a nearby hospital where she reportedly had multiple heart attacks.
Doctors are meeting with the family to determine the next steps, but it’s unclear if Bharti is still on the ventilator.
