A 3-year-old Texas boy died Sunday from a fatal gunshot wound at his birthday party, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
According to the press release, friends and family had gathered to celebrate the little boy. A gunshot rang out while they were playing cards. The boy was found with a gunshot wound to the chest.
It is believed that the boy found a pistol after it fell out of a family member’s pocket. The family rushed the boy to a nearby fire station, where he died from his injuries.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of this tragic accident,” the sheriff’s office said in the statement.
