North Carolina authorities found $3 million in barrels filled with raw pork, and the money is suspected to be drug money.
A tractor-trailer was pulled over Saturday for failing to stay in his lane and impeding traffic on Interstate 85.
According to the sheriff’s office, a K-9 alerted deputies to the trailer, and that is when deputies found $3 million in cash wrapped in plastic inside the containers.
Sheriff Alan Norman says he suspects the money was from drug sales and was headed to Mexico.
“It’s one of the largest U.S currency seizures in Cleveland County history,” Norman said in an interview with the Shelby Star.
