4-Foot Boa Constrictor Found In Woman’s Carry-On At Tampa Airport, Said It Was Her “Emotional Support Pet”

This is something you don’t hear every day. A woman catching a flight at Tampa International Airport tried to bring along her boa constrictor on her flight last month.

Transportation Security Administration agents discovered the 4-foot snake in her carry-on and quickly rejected it.

The agency posted an x-ray image to its social media sites of the woman’s carry-on bag, which contained the massive snake snuggled in the corner of the bag that also had other items like shoes and a laptop inside.

The woman told agents that the snake was “her emotional support pet,” named Bartholomew, CBS News reported.

The agency informed the airline that the woman was to depart with but it also denied the snake from flying, PEOPLE reported.

“Our officers at Tampa International Airport didn’t find this hyssssssterical!” the TSA added in a humorous Instagram post, “We really have no adder-ation for discovering any pet going through an x-ray machine.”

The agency urges people to check the rules for carrying pets based on their airlines before coming to the airport. Although snakes are not permitted in carry-on bags, a few airlines allow them to fly in secured check-in bags.
