San Francisco 49er defensive lineman Ray McDonald was arrested around 3am Sunday morning on felony domestic violence. The news comes less than a week after the NFL implemented their new & harsher domestic violence policy. McDonald was arrested for allegedly assaulting a pregnant woman (In order for it to be domestic violence it would have to be a girlfriend, spouse, family member or cohabitant). The woman sustained bruising to her neck and arms.
There aren’t many other details available as of yet. We do know that Ray McDonald was arrested at his San Jose home and that fellow 49ers Vernon Davis and Demarcus Dobbs were present. McDonald’s bail has been set at $25,000. He is scheduled back in court on September 15th.
I’m sure Roger Goodell is going to have a field day making an example out of Ray McDonald. Remember, first offense will get a player suspended for 6 games HOWEVER the penalty can be harsher if the victim is pregnant.
