Five children died, and five others were injured after they fell to the ground from a bouncy castle that was blown into the air by a strong gust of wind outside an Australian school earlier today.
The tragedy took place at Hillcrest primary school in northern Tasmania as children were celebrating the upcoming Christmas break.
The sixth graders were playing in the bouncy castle when winds blew the inflatable house off the ground, tossing them from a height of about 33 feet.
Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison called the tragedy “shattering” and “unthinkably heartbreaking.”
“Young children on a fun day out, together with their families, and it turns to such a horrific tragedy, at this time of year, it just breaks your heart,” he said.
