The winter season is a time to relax, reflect, and recalibrate your mind. For many people, this involves recharging by spending time with family or sipping on nice alcoholic drinks with beverages to stay warm. But, a recent trend has emerged that challenges people to have a “Dry January.” This social idea invites participants to stray away from alcohol for the first 31 days of the year.
Whether you’re trying to detox your body after indulging in holiday treats or just want to start the year off with a sober mind, “Dry January” has got you covered. But, if this is your first time trying the challenge and you’re having a hard time finding substitute drinks that’ll give you that same kick, check out this compiled list of a few of our favorite mocktails that’ll leave you wanting more.
1. Mango Mule
Ingredients:
5 slices of cucumber
1⁄2 oz of simple syrup
1.5 oz of mango puree
1.5 oz of fresh lime juice
2 oz of ginger beer
mint, lime, and cucumber (as garnish)
This tropical treat is created by combining mango puree, syrup, and lime juice in a glass. Top off the drink with ginger beer and embellish it with lime and mint to finish off the perfect Mango Mule.
2. Maple Morning
Ingredients:
- 1 oz lime juice
- Bare Zero Proof Whiskey (non-alcoholic)
- 3.4 oz Grade A amber color and rich taste maple syrup
- 1 dash of orange bitters
- 1 lemon peel (as garnish)
Dive into rich, smoked flavors that feature Bare Zero Proof Whiskey. Add all of the ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice until the drink is chilled. Strain the mixture into a glass and finish off with orange bitters (mocktail flavoring) and the lemon peel.
3. Health Bloom
Ingredients:
- ½ oz lime juice
- 1 handful of fresh mint
- 1 oz non-alcoholic gin
- 3 oz blueberry kombucha
- 1 oz beet syrup
For beet syrup:
- 350 grams of beet blend
- 70% beet juice
- 15% strawberry juice
- 15% apple juice
- mineral water
- 355 grams of white sugar powder
Simmer beet blend and mineral water, then add sugar until dissolved. Remove from heat, cool, and refrigerate the syrup for up to two weeks. Mix the syrup with other ingredients for the final beverage, serve over ice, and garnish with berries and pickled vegetables.
4. Apple Pom-Fizz
Ingredients:
- 2 oz apple cider
- 1 oz pomegranate juice
- ½ oz simple syrup
- ½ oz lemon juice
- soda water
- cinnamon stick (as garnish)
Shake ingredients in a cocktail shaker, strain into a wine glass with ice, top with soda water, and garnish with a cinnamon stick for this quick and easy spiced mocktail.
5. Ginger Soda
Ingredients:
- ⅓ oz ginger
- ⅓ oz lime
- ⅓ oz spiced syrup
- Ginger Ale
Last but not least is a classic that cannot go unnoticed. The Ginger Soda mixes all of the ingredients at once and is topped off with classic, Ginger Ale. No matter what brand you use, this classic enhanced Ginger Ale is a guaranteed hit.
