According to Vice, at least five of the officers involved in the raid on Breonna Taylor’s home were present in a botched 2018 raid that left a family traumatized.
The five officers involved in both cases were Brett Hankison, Myles Cosgrove, Mike Campbell, Mike Nobles, and Joshua Jaynes. No charges were filed in the 2018 incident, but an ongoing lawsuit was filed against the Louisville Metro Government.
Five of the same officers that carried out the no-knock warrant on Taylor’s home rammed their way into Mario Daugherty’s home without knocking, according to body-cam footage, throwing flash-bangs and shouting at Daugherty’s girlfriend and children, who were home at the time. Unlike Taylor’s case, the search warrant obtained for the home was not for a no-knock raid.
“It’s like we relive this stuff every day,” Daugherty told VICE News. He says the entire family is still traumatized by the experience. “I mean, our kids, they’ll never forget about this stuff. And it just hurts.”
Like Taylor’s story, a search warrant was granted for Daugherty’s home over suspected marijuana sales out of the home, but the case was later dropped.
