A 5-year-old boy fatally shot a 3-year-old girl in Minnesota on Friday. The incident occurred around 4 a.m. inside a home in Cass County, Sheriff Tom Burch revealed.
An ambulance intercepted a vehicle that was rushing the young girl to the Deer River Hospital and attempted to save the child’s life, but it was too late. Officials said the child was pronounced dead at the hospital.
It’s not clear if the children were related or how the 5-year-old got hold of the gun. Officials also didn’t provide any information on whether or not any adults were arrested following the shooting.
What is clear is that under Minnesota law, “Children under 14 years of age are incapable of committing a crime,” therefore, the boy cannot be charged for the fatal shooting.
