5-Year-Old Boy Shot By “Intoxicated” Mother, Currently in Stable Condition

A 5-year-old boy was shot by his “intoxicated” mother on Friday in Columbus, Ohio.

According to People, the child was rushed to Nationwide Children’s Hospital just after 5 p.m. after he suffered a gunshot wound that went through both of his knees. The boy is currently in “stable condition” and awaiting corrective surgery, police said in a press release. 

Authorities were dispatched to the home of the child’s mother, Trenise Turner, after the boy was brought into the hospital by other family members.

Cops later determined that the child was lying on the couch next to his 30-year-old mother while she was “pointing her handgun at several adults in the home and making threats,” the Columbus Division of Police said. 

When the allegedly intoxicated woman went to put the gun back into her purse, she allegedly fired a shot that struck her son in his legs.

Turner was then arrested and charged with felony endangering of children and a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence by assault.
