5-Year-Old Shot While Getting A Haircut In Alabama

Authorities say 5-year-old Brandon Jamal Nation III was fatally shot while getting a haircut in Bessemer, Alabama.

The child’s grandmother took him to a home in the 500 block of Seventh Avenue North to get a haircut on Sunday morning, and shortly after, tragedy struck.

Bessemer Police Det. Justin Burmeister said the victims were outside the home when someone opened fire directly at the house, killing the young boy and injuring the barber, an adult male.

“We know someone not at the house shot towards the house,’’ Burmeister said.

Brandon was taken to Children’s of Alabama where he was pronounced dead.

The adult male was taken to the hospital and is listed in critical condition.

“It’s terrible,’’ Burmeister said. “Our thoughts are with the family during this incredibly challenging time.”

“We are working tirelessly to gather all available information and evidence to determine the sequence of events that led to this tragic outcome,’’ he said.
