50 Cent Calls Out Oprah Winfrey Over Russell Simmons Documentary; Says Winfrey Only Targets Black Men: “I Just Want To Know Why She Is Only Going After Her Own”

“Power” executive producer 50 Cent is calling out Oprah Winfrey after she announced an Apple TV + documentary that will focus on Russell Simmons’ sexual assault accusers.

On Thursday, 50 took to Instagram and opened up about his feelings towards Winfrey, deciding to make a film that explores sexual assault allegations against Simmons. “I don’t understand why Oprah is going after black men. No Harvey Weinstein, No Epstein, just Micheal Jackson and Russell Simmons, this shit is sad. Gale hit R Kelly with the death blow documentary. Every time I hear Micheal Jackson, I don’t know whether to dance or think about the little boys’ butts. These documentary’s are publicly convicting their targets, it makes them guilty till proven innocent.”

It’s not that 50 Cent doesn’t want alleged offenders to be exposed. However, he pointed out that Winfrey has yet to target non-Black men who have been accused of the same actions, like #HarveyWeinstein, #KevinSpacey and more. ”I just want to know why she is only going after her own. When it’s clear, the penalties have been far more extreme for African American men,” 50 said in another post on Friday.

This isn’t the first time Winfrey has received criticism for allegedly targeting Black men who are accused of sexual assault. Most recently, the journalist interviewed the accusers of the late #MichaelJackson. Her longtime best friend was also the primary journalist covering #RKelly’s current sexual assault and abuse case. While Kelly has had more than a decade worth of evidence, accusations, and witnesses against him, 50 argues that people like Simmons and Jackson are now being demonized despite there being no proof, which he says is simply unfair in the eyes of justice.

Simmons also broke his silence on Winfrey’s new project, noting that while he admits to being a “playboy,” he has never forced himself on anyone. “I have already admitted to being a playboy more (appropriately titled today ‘womanizer’) sleeping with and putting myself in more compromising situations than almost any man I know,”he said, adding, ”So many that some could reinterpret or reimagine a different recollection of the same experiences.”
