Hip-hop icon and entrepreneur 50 Cent recently sat down with Big Boy to give his take on the accusations swirling around Jay-Z, Diddy, and their alleged involvement in a controversial case involving a 13-year-old teenager. The interview touched on everything from legal strategies to how the NFL might navigate its association with the music moguls.
50, known for his no-holds-barred commentary, made it clear that the carefully worded statements released by the accused were likely crafted by legal teams. “You can tell it was written by a lawyer,” 50 said, highlighting the aggressive tone of the statement. “There’s a point where it gets combative — like, ‘you’re going to find out how I’ll handle this.’ That’s attorney talk, not publicist language.”
Big Boy brought up a meme posted by 50 Cent on Instagram, poking fun at the situation. The image asked whether the Super Bowl, an event deeply connected to Jay-Z’s NFL partnership, would still proceed amid the controversy. Laughing, 50 added, “I’m just asking for Kendrick [Lamar]. You know? I’m just trying to figure out if we’re still doing everything.”
However, 50 Cent predicted that while the NFL might “fall back” from the controversy, they likely wouldn’t completely sever ties. “They won’t necessarily be associated with that,” he explained, suggesting that the league will distance itself to avoid backlash but avoid drastic moves.
When Big Boy asked why 50 hasn’t been more vocal about the accusations, the rapper made it clear he’s observing from the sidelines. “I’m just watching,” he said. “I’m participating [in the culture], giving my opinion. But I’m not inserting myself.” He added with a laugh, “Maybe I’ll just stay out of trouble and hang out with Dre [Dr. Dre] in the studio.”
As the accusations continue to unfold, the culture watches closely to see how the industry’s biggest names navigate the storm. Will the NFL’s relationship with hip-hop be affected? Only time will tell.
