One of the driving forces behind Starz hit TV show, Power, is bringing another series to Starz.
In 2018, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson signed a multi-series deal with the premium network, and next up for the rapper-turned-executive producer is the drama series, titled, Black Mafia Family.
The Black Mafia Family series adds to 50’s forever expanding executive producer credentials, which includes the critically acclaimed, Power, and the new ABC network series, For Life.
Power has four spinoffs in the works that will continue where the original Power left off. Power Book II: Ghost, Power Book III: Raising Kanan, Power Book IV: Influence, and Power Book V: Force.
In a statement about the forthcoming project, Starz president and CEO Jeffrey Hirsch, said, “This is a project Curtis has always been incredibly passionate about, and we are excited to have him as our partner in bringing it to life. The Black Mafia Family has all the hallmarks of a great drama, from the larger-than-life Flenory brothers to the deadly, high-stakes world they inhabited. This series is going to be an incredible ride for audiences around the world.”⠀⠀⠀
The Black Mafia Family is based on the true story of two brothers from Detroit that influence not only the drug game but also hip hop culture.
Rick Ross’s 2010 single’ BMF’ was viewed as an ode to the charismatic founder Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory. Big Meech’s leadership with Terry “Southwest T” Flenory’s business savvy birthed one of the most infamous black drug cartels the country has ever seen.
