Despite 50 Cent’s social media antics, the Queens-bred rapper is booked and busy, expanding his resume as a powerhouse producer.
In fact, according to Variety, the ‘In Da Club” rapper just secured a new four-year overall deal with Starz, the home of 50’s hit series, “Power.”
As part of the new deal, which is said to be worth $150 million, the rapper will continue to create and develop new scripted and unscripted projects exclusively for the network, via his G-Unit Film and Television, Inc.
According to the publication, the deal will also include a three-series commitment, a dedicated development executive and a discretionary fund for the development of the forthcoming projects.
“When I sat down with Chris [Albrecht, Starz CEO] and walked him through my plans for G-Unit Film & Television going forward, he let me know I was essentially requesting the biggest deal in premium cable history,” 50 said of the massive deal. “I am excited to announce that we’ve made that partnership between myself, G-Unit Film & Television and Starz/Lionsgate and we will continue our proven track record of breaking records and delivering unique content for audiences around the world….Get The Strap.”
In turn, the network CEO elaborated on the partnership in a statement, saying, “Both on screen and off, [50 Cent] has proven that he can deliver content that our viewers want to watch. He is the real deal, and we have given him a real deal, with what I believe to be among the most significant deals to date for an Executive Producer in premiumm television. We’re pleased to expand our relationship and consider this the beginning of many new and exciting venture to come.”
