50 Cent isn’t one to hold back when expressing his thoughts on controversial topics.
Justine Lindsay became the first openly transgender cheerleader in the NFL when she made history in March. The Carolina Panthers’ Topcats cheer squad has hired the 29-year-old dancer for the 2022/23 season.
On Sunday, 50 posted and deleted a post to Instagram that seemingly showed his favorable reaction to the news.
“I guess the NFL is looking to spread its wings,” he wrote. “Why not a transgender player, though? I hope this is not just for the press.”
Lindsay sat down with BuzzFeed News for her first interview over the weekend, with June acting as Pride Month worldwide.
“I think more people need to see this,” she said. “It’s not because I want recognition. It’s just to shed light on what’s going on in the world.”
“Thank you to all my haters who think I’m bringing the organization down; clearly I don’t,” she wrote. “The Carolina panthers Organization is an excellent one, one that supports all people white, black, yellow trans, straight, etc. at the end of the day, myself and the other 29 members @topcats made the squad fair and square.”
Lindsay is set to make her NFL cheerleading debut on Sept. 11.
