50 Cent is taking legal action against his ex, Daphne Joy, alleging defamation following her claims of rape and abuse. The legal dispute arises amidst their ongoing custody battle over their 12-year-old son, Sire.
Court documents obtained by Us Weekly reveal that 50 Cent, born Curtis Jackson, is accusing Joy of trying to tarnish his reputation through her public accusations. He claims these allegations are a calculated effort to negatively influence their custody dispute and restrict his access to his son.
50’s lawsuit also claims he has faced “public ridicule, hatred, and contempt” due to Joy’s public accusations. In seeking to clear his name, he is pursuing punitive damages for the “severe harm” caused by what he describes as Joy’s “false and defamatory statements.”
The backdrop of this legal battle includes a shocking revelation where Joy was labeled a “sex worker” in another case involving Sean “Diddy” Combs. Following this, Jackson filed for sole custody of their son to protect him, prompting Joy to post her abuse allegations.
The legal documents allege that Joy’s post was crafted to damage Jackson’s standing in their custody dispute, making claims that have allegedly inflicted personal and professional damage on the rapper. Jackson’s legal team states he has suffered significantly from these accusations.
“Jackson has suffered, and will continue to suffer, substantial damages, to which he is entitled to recover in an amount to be determined at trial,” the docs read.
