In the wake of the success of Starz’s “Power,” 50 Cent has won big in a legal battle over the show after two men accused the rapper of stealing the story.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
According to TMZ, the men say they wrote a play called “Dangerous” that is very similar to the show’s storyline. The men accused 50 Cent of ripping off their work from the play, which features a drug dealer with a history of violence, who launders money and manages to avoid prosecution.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
However, the court ruled that the show is much like many other crime dramas, saying “One need only look to such shows and movies as ‘The Wire,’ ‘Empire,’ ‘Breaking Bad,’ ‘Narcos,’ ‘Weeds,’ ‘Carlito’s Way,’ ‘American Gangster,’ ‘New Jack City,’ ‘Scarface,’ and ‘Paid in Full.’”

As a result, the judge ruled in favor of the rapper, agreeing that the hit show was not a rip off of the play.
