According to officials, fentanyl spread through air vents at an Ohio correctional center late Sunday, hospitalizing four juvenile inmates and three wardens.
The Williams County Sheriff’s Office told WTOL that the health alert at the Northwest Ohio Juvenile Detention Center in Stryker was triggered after several of the young inmates began collapsing.
According to Deputy Jeff Lehman, responding teams discovered fentanyl had been released in the air ventilation system, and the investigation of how it got there was still ongoing.
WTVG reported that the juveniles and staff members were taken to a local hospital and in stable condition.
All other juveniles were moved to the adult detention facility, where they will be separated from adult prisoners while thoroughly investigating the health scare.
