A 71-year-old man has been arrested on 100 counts of first-degree rape involving minors in Pineville, Louisiana.
Harvey Joseph Fountain was taken into police custody on April 9 after detectives received information that the suspect was involved sexually with juveniles.
Police investigation revealed that the alleged sex crimes dated back to the 1970s and were committed in various locations Fountain resided.
Fountain was initially held in Rapides Parish Detention Center on 50 counts of first-degree rape with bond set at $500,000.
Detectives continued their investigation, and by April 12, there was enough evidence to rearrest Fountain for 50 additional counts of first-degree rape.
According to CNN, Fountain’s total bond has been set at $1 million, and a grand jury will formally consider the case.
Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office made it clear that the “investigation is still ongoing.”
