New Poll Claims 76 Percent of Americans Think Facebook Makes Society Worse

A new CNN Poll has found that more than three out of four Americans think Facebook is ruining society.

The poll found that a whopping 76 percent of US adults believe the popular social media platform has made a negative impact on society, compared to 11 percent of adults who said it has a positive impact on “society as a whole.” Thirteen percent of respondents said it had no effect on society either way.

More than a third of those polled said they use Facebook multiple times a day. But of the three-quarters of adults who believe the platform is worsening society, 55 percent of those respondents blamed other users for its negative impact, compared to the 45 percent who blamed Facebook for the way it operates.

The poll also found that 53 percent of Americans polled want Facebook to face increased regulation by the federal government, while 35 percent said they believed no change was needed.
