8 Italians Suspected of Sexually Assaulting Two Underage British Girls

According to ABC News, four men have been arrested, and four more men are being investigated in southern Italy on suspicion of sexually assaulting two British girls in a villa where a party was being held Friday.

The two 15-year-old girls, who spoke no Italian, were vacationing when they met the male suspects at the party that they attended with one of the victims’ adult sister. Police say two of the younger Italian males won their trust by acting in a friendly manner while also taking advantage of the two girls in their “altered state” after consuming alcohol.

The adult sister lost sight of the girls after about 50 people went inside of the villa, investigators said.

Private surveillance video showed one of the minors stumbling and being pushed by one male toward a dark corner. As she appears to protest, three others emerge behind the villa. Police said the group was then followed by three more males with the other minor. The two girls were then sexually assaulted separately; both attacks lasted about 15 minutes. The incident occurred after midnight on Sept. 7.

Surveillance video showed the suspects then leaving the darkened area and scattering.

Several hours later, two girls contacted the police and were treated at the hospital.

The male suspects range from ages 19 to 23. The girls positively identified the four arrested. The other three were identified from the video. Police are still seeking to identify the eighth suspect.

Police say that they had to move quickly due to the evidence of the ‘brutality of the violence committed in a subtle manner that could have been repeated against other helpless women.”
