Well, it’s that season where looters are going to loot for a reason. Evidently, close to 80 looters ransacked a California Nordstrom.
Witnesses say the incident was “insane” and like something “out of a movie.”
“We probably saw 50 to 80 people in ski masks crowbars a bunch of weapons. They were looting the Nordstrom’s right here. And I thought they were going to start beating cars. I had to start locking doors lock the front door lock the back door,” local PF Chang’s manager Brett Barrette told KGO.
“There was a mob of people,” Barrette added to CBS SF. “The police were flying in. It was like a scene out of a movie. It was insane.”
The looting occurred before 9 p.m. on Saturday in Walnut Creek, which is near San Francisco, Fox News reported.
A local reporter made a tweet that included footage of the chaos and said nearly 25 cars pulled up outside of the retail store before running in, snatching merchandise, and leaving.
Dozens of police were called to the scene. Walnut Creek Lt. Ryan Hibbs told KPIX 5 allegedly that the looters smashed shelves during the incident and quickly got back into their cars with bags and boxes from the store.
It hasn’t been determined how much merchandise was stolen, NBC News reported.
But according to Walnut Creek Police Department, one employee was pepper-sprayed, and two others were kicked and punched.
Hibbs also stated that a male and female in a car were stopped and arrested. The male has been charged with robbery, possession of the stolen property, conspiracy to commit burglary, and possession of burglary tools. The woman was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm.
A third suspect was also arrested and charged with robbery, possession of the stolen property, conspiracy to commit burglary, and possession of burglary tools.
