On Thursday, Willie Murphy, an 82-year-old award-winning bodybuilder, heard banging on her door as she prepared to go to sleep for the evening.
Speaking with WHAM-TV, Murphy explained that a man began pounding on her door, asking her to call for medical assistance. As Murphy began to call for an emergency responder, she explained to the man that she would not let him in. However, the man then busted down her door and forced himself into her home.
But, what the intruder wasn’t expecting was for Murphy to fight back. Using items in research distance, including a table, baby shampoo, and a broom, she fought to protect her home until police arrived.
“I took that table, and I went to working on him. I’m alone, and I’m old, but guess what? I’m tough,” she continued.
While attacking the intruder with the table, it broke, and she quickly picked up the metal legs off from the piece of furniture and began attacking him again. Murphy also squirted shampoo in his face and even hit him repeatedly with a broom.
Household items weren’t the only things she used to beat the intruder; she also jumped on him as well.
After being defeated, the intruder requested to leave, however, Murphy – although able to lift 225 pounds- had trouble moving him. She made progress up until the police arrived and took over.
“He wants to get the heck out of there, and I’m trying to help him get out of the house, but I can’t move him. He’s dead weight. So they come in. He’s laying down already because I had really did a number on that man,” she said.
Murphy also reported to WHAM-TV that she does not plan on pressing charges.
Murphy took home the Lifter of the Year award at the World Natural Powerlifting Federation’s Championship back in 2014 and has won many other first-place awards and gold medals for deadlift, power curl, and bench press.
