According to The New York Post, 82-year-old Alan Bischof from Texas was charged for killing his secret male lover during what was described to be a sadomasochistic sex game gone wrong.
Bischof was arrested for felony aggravated assault for the death of his lover, Craig LaMell, 75, who died nearly a month ago. Initially, Bischof reportedly claimed that the man was beaten up by a group of strangers near his home in Houston.
The 82-year-old’s actions were only discovered after he retired four months later. Around April 29, Bischof’s old manager reportedly found a confession on his work computer, according to an affidavit. Bischof, who is married for over 35 years, reportedly wrote about his secret sexual relationship with LaMell in “great detail.”
Bischof wrote about how “they engaged in sadomasochistic behavior,” and added that, “LaMell had requested Bischof to assault him,” according to the court records.
Bischof described his secret lover as a “helpless baby” during the brutal attack. He felt the urge to take a picture of LaMell on the ground covered in blood with multiple injuries to his face, upper body and arms, the court records reportedly say.
The two men decided to claim the incident was a mugging, but LaMell’s story fell through when he told his friends that he was beaten up by a jealous husband of a woman he was seeing.
LaMell passed away after initially being discharged from Houston’s Methodist Hospital, spending nearly a week in ICU. LaMell died when he was readmitted to the hospital on December 2. His death occurred after needing emergency surgery for bleeding on his brain due to blunt force head trauma.
In the “Confession” found on Bischof’s work computer, he said that he planned to commit suicide over the accidental death of his lover. There were also suicide notes written to his family discovered on the computer. Reportedly during police interviews, he said, “everything in the letter was correct” and that the beating that turned deadly was planned several weeks prior to the incident.
The 82-year-old man was reportedly charged with aggravated assault of a family member due to his relationship with LaMell. He was released on a $50,000 bond.
“I don’t have anything to say right now,” he told Houston’s KPRC2 news. A source reportedly close to Bischof said his wife named Beverly, didn’t know about the relationship between her husband and LaMell. “But I bet she knows all about it now,” the source added.
