Memphis rap legends 8Ball & MJG are getting their flowers in a major way.
The city is officially naming the corner of Park Avenue and Airways Boulevard—right in the heart of the Orange Mound neighborhood—after the iconic duo.
It’s set to become 8Ball Boulevard and MJG Avenue, forever cementing their place in Memphis history.
If you know anything about 8Ball & MJG, you know they’ve always repped Orange Mound, shouting out the neighborhood in their music and showing love to their roots. Now, the city is returning that love.
In response to the news, 8Ball took to Instagram to express his gratitude, “Thank you Memphis. Thank you Orange Mound. The love is appreciated! Never got many accolades so this hit different mane you hear me. Thank you @mayorpaulyoung @duprano and everyone that made this possible.”
For those who might not know these Memphis legends, you need to check out their hits. From “Stay Fly” featuring Three 6 Mafia to classics like “You Don’t Want No Drama,” “Money on the Floor,” and “Comin’ Out Hard”, 8Ball & MJG have been dropping bangers for decades.
Their sound is a huge part of Memphis’ hip-hop culture, and this intersection renaming is a well-deserved recognition.
