A nine-year-old boy from Florida has been charged with attempted murder after stabbing his five-year-old sister with a kitchen knife last month.
On January 28, the young boy and his sister were left in the home alone while their mother went to go get the mail and candy from the neighbor, it was during this time that the boy stabbed his younger sister.
The mother discovered her son stabbing his sister with the kitchen knife in a bedroom upon her return.
“Die, die!” the mother said she heard her son saying, according to the affidavit.
According to Ocala police, the boy told investigators he thought of killing his sister two days before the stabbing and couldn’t get the idea out his head.
The child was charged Tuesday with attempted first-degree murder and appeared in court Wednesday in Ocala, where he pled not guilty.
The victim was released last Friday from the University of Florida Shands Hospital.
According to the Ocala Star-Banner, the young boy remains in police custody while the public defender’s office awaits the results of a competency examination that will say if the child understands the charges he’s facing.
