A ninth person has died after being seriously injured at last week’s Astroworld Festival in Houston.
A family attorney announced Thursday that 22-year-old Texas A&M University student Bharti Shahani succumbed to her injuries Wednesday evening.
Shahani had been in ICU since Friday’s event and was declared brain dead earlier this week. The student attended the festival with her sister and cousin but got separated during the crowd surge.
“Once one person fell, people started toppling like dominos. It was like a sinkhole. People were falling on top of each other,” her cousin told KTRK.
Shahani was later taken to a Houston hospital where she was placed on a ventilator.
