A BALLER ALERT ALL ACCESS PASS INTO THE QUE FILES

For those reality tv buffs lets just say Sean Combs had many of you, myself, included programmed to tune into MTV”s Making of the Band. Its been said, Day 26 picked up right where the era of 112 left off. However, like most bands, personalities are aplenty & in most cases they clash like polyester & nylon. For the greater good of the brand you press on through adversity, which continues to build character, or so it should. However, there was an underlying issue that even on television could not be resolved.

Qwanell Mosley aka Que, the baby boy of the group was always revered as the problem child. As stated in a previous story here on Baller Alert, everything wasn’t what it appeared to be on the show. Que seemed to always have issues with management, which prompted his outlandish behavior. When it comes to matters of money & your livelihood as a means of survival, who wouldn’t act out? As a group, Day 26 seemingly had a nice run, that is until Que received a letter in which the members no longer wanted to work with him. Talk about pulling the wool over ones eyes.

The tides have turned & for Que, he’s in love under new management, literally. Nothing has changed with Que but his management. He’s currently managed by Soul World Entertainment under the direction of Cliff Jones. Soul World is a very family oriented organization & Que fits the build right perfectly. With a single entitled. Shake That & the Q Files (mixtape) to be released to the public March 23rd, Mr. Mosley has a bright future ahead of him.

Que has a personality that is truly one of a kind as I was able to witness first hand. The studio is truly his second home & I was most appreciative that he on behalf of Soul World invited me out. We shared many laughs as we discussed his life now as a solo artist, his mixtape & more.

Check out our exclusive below:

BA: Que, you’re no stranger to us here on BallerAlert, however, since our last story, things have changed, management wise. How does it feel to be apart of a new equation that looks out for your best interest?

Que: You know it feels good. I’m very appreciative & I appreciate everyone here at Soul World Entertainment because I’m able to see my business now. I get to see everything that’s going on. The situation before with my prior management company they were keeping contracts from me. I wasn’t able to see how much money I was getting paid. I’d ask for receipts & it felt like they were hiding things, which prompted me to want to get an audit. With my current management, everything is clean all around the board-everyone is honest with one another, there’s loyalty & the business is going great! So it feels like a burden has been lifted off my chest, it just feels so good to be around people that have your best interest.

BA: Indeed, I can tell you’re happy. Your aura says it all.

Que: Yeah! (laughs)

BA: Now, you’re currently living here in the DMV, we’re a group of people in a class of our own, did you expect us to take you in as we have given you’re from New York?

Que Yeah. You know its so weird, like you said, they did take me in under their wings & it feels like home. I really feel like I’m home, its like peace.(laughs). I’m so appreciative that God sent me to a place with positive people that understand & recognize what’s real. You know people who would understand that what happened was some fucked up stuff, that it wasn’t right. A people who are willing to start over, look forward & make things work.

BA: Understood, now that you’re in a different place, do you still keep in contact with the other members of Day 26?

Que: Yeah, I’ve reached out to Mike & gave him my number. I reached out to Robert while he was here for an appearance, he wanted to talk to me, so I met with him. He came out to my house with both my mother & I, we talked, he apologized. He said he wasn’t apart of the letter being sent- so it was a lot of mis-communication. The only one I haven’t reached out to is Willie, not that there is any hard feelings, it’s just that I didn’t appreciate how he went about telling my business on the radio. (laughs) It’s like Kobe & Shaq.

Yo, I would never go personal & put anyone’s personal business out there. I keep business, business. It’s just like the music industry, some things are meant to stay personal. You know Beyonce isn’t going to tell you how many times she’s slept with Jay.You know to try & put things in perspective for you.

BA: You’re definitely right about that. Now with your mixtape; the QFiles available for download March 23rd, what can your fans(new & old) expect from it?

Que: They can expect great music. All the songs that were written & recorded we tried to put a message to them. Not all the songs are club songs that girls can shake their asses to. We tried to bring forth a positive message. You know almost like Michael Jackson, he came out with Thriller & all these other songs that we interpreted one way & he meant it another. I pretty much want the world to accept & know my talent & appreciate the gift. Really understand & accept my opinion & my story. I think that’s what they’re going to get from the mixtape, I really believe they’re going to like it. We have a big fan base who loves R&B & pop music.

The stuff I’ve been playing on Ustream, the fans have been going crazy. So I’m excited, come the 23rd it will be available at DTLR & Itunes. (AT PRESS TIME THE MIXTAPE WAS TO BE AVAILABLE VIA THOSE OUTLETS)

BA: That’s whats up. How did you link up with DJ Quicksilva to host the tape?

Que: Um, he actually reached out. So I was like WOW, because he’s like the shit. He & Angie Ange over at WKYS, shouts to them, they’re doing their thing. So to know that Quick wanted to be involved with the project, I was humbly excited. I was very thankful, I really appreciate it because I know who he is. He’s dope.

BA: Now once the mixtape drops, when can we expect an album? Are you signed to any major label?

Que: Currently, I’m still under contract with Atlantic. I can’t go into details as far as the solo deal is concerned because my lawyer Scott Belcher has advised me not to speak on things until all the business gets handled. But as soon as the mixtape is out, you guys should be hearing things about the album. There definitely will be a solo career for Que.

BA: Cool, as fan of your work, I’m definitely looking forward to that. Speaking of being solo, how does it feel to know your success or failure is dependent upon you now vs. the group?

Que: You know, if I fail, its because of me now. If I make it big, however big I make it is ultimately on me. I now carry a heavy load of responsibility, I have to make sure I do all these interviews, make sure I’m on time. I’m handling my business, I’m branding myself to be the best I can be. Like I said if I fail its because of me, I no longer have four other people to rock out with me. I’m doing it all on my own.

BA: With that being said, what do you set out to achieve that you didn’t do with the group?

Que: Basically spreading the positive message with my music. You know getting out to these high schools & really getting to these kids & spread the message that you can be & do whatever you set out to in life. You have to find that faith & believe in yourself & know that there is hope. Just with my music & stuff, I want the world to know that there’s some serious stuff going on when you get out of high school. (laughs)- I got out of high school & went straight on TV, so I acted as a person in high school would act. I want people my age to know, its not that serious, don’t handle things as I did.

BA: Que, you seem to have a good head on your shoulders not to say you didn’t have one before. I guess being in front of the camera matures you.

Que: (laughs) Yeah.

BA: Let’s talk your single that hit the radio exclusively to WKYS, Shake That Shit, word is there’s a remix in the making with your girl Dawn & Kalenna of Dirty Money, is that true?

Que: (laughs at my diction) Yeah, SHAKE THAT SHIT! Yeah, with Neon & Flux, they’re the shit, right? Yeah, that should be done real soon. They have the file right now, so I’m awaiting their edits & as soon as they send it back. we’re going to drop it at the radio, Quick & Angie Ange are hyped about that. The fans are hype as well, I can’t wait to hear the finished product with Neon & Flux (Dawn & Kalenna).

BA: Ok, I see they’re playing on the cartoon Aeon & Flux.(laughs)

Que: Yeah, dope right?

BA: Yeah, it is. Now most know you’re not only a singer, but a writer as well, if you could pen a song with any artist, past/present, dead/alive who would it be & why? Like your ultimate dream collaboration.

Que: Hmm, my dream collaboration. I have a few I’d love to work with Brandy, she said she;s going to come through. So that’s like a dream that’s in the works. But, I would absolutely LOVE to work with Beyonce & Jay. Yo, if I could work with them, you know I’m from New York(raises brim to his hat real low) I’d be like LETS GO, LET’S GO! But, forreal, if I could get a record with them, especially Beyonce, because vocally she’s just amazing & she always puts on a show. That would really be a dream come true, I’d think I’d piss on myself.

BA: (laughs) Piss on yourself Que? Aren’t you a little too old to be doing that?

Que: (laughs) No, like serious, I’d really be like WOW! That’s when I could really pat myself on the back & be like you know what, I’ve really achieved something.

BA: Still laughing at the piss on myself comment. Que, you’re really down to earth. I don’t come across many artists’ like that. I commend you on that.

Que: I mean, piss on myself like I’m excited (chuckles).

BA: Of course, I know you weren’t speaking in literal terms. Getting back to Day 26, if there was ever an opportunity in which things could be reconciled & you were able to bring your management team to the table, would you?

Que: In the future, yeah, of course. No problem, because it was never a personal issue. We left on good terms, & I thought we all were going to get new management & continue on with Day 26. I wouldn’t mind linking back up with them in the future as long as the business is in order. Your business has to be in order or you won’t make any money. Like at some point, you have to step up & be a man & know what you deserve. I know I deserve a career, I’m talented. However, at the end of the day it is what it is.

BA: Que, this interview was interesting to say in the least. I thank you for taking the opportunity to speak with me on behalf of the Baller Alert community. We wish you much success as you embark on your solo journey. Are there any parting words, you’d like to leave us with?

Que: No problem, & I thank you guys for the continued support. Call the radio & request Shake That & please get a copy of the Qfiles, come March 23rd.
