A stagehand is taking legal action against Live Nation.

According to the legal filing, the occurrence transpired during a tour event at AT&T Stadium in August 2022. Stagehand Steve Genovese was allegedly “marking the floor for the stage dimensions.” Shortly after, he was struck by a forklift that another on-site worker was operating. This incident resulted in Genovese suffering “severe, excruciatingly painful and permanently disabling injuries to his leg. The flesh and muscle were torn away from [his] leg and were detached from the bones.”

Furthermore, the legal complaint asserts a total of five charges of civil responsibility, including negligent hiring, and gross negligence, among other matters pertinent to the incident. The filing also alleges that despite undergoing multiple surgeries, Genovese’s leg remains in a state of horrific and permanent disfigurement and impairment.

Genovese’s employer had a contractual agreement with Live Nation to construct a stage for the Grammy Award-winning artist. Although the lawsuit named Live Nation, concert promoter C3 Presents, Cowboys Stadium, LP, and a few other entities, The Weeknd’s name was not a part of the legal proceedings. Nevertheless, Genovese is pursuing compensation for his medical costs, physical pain, emotional distress, and other related damages.

In other news, The Weeknd recently reached another milestone. Last week, the artist “broke Wembley Stadium’s record for sales” after selling 87,000 tickets.
