Steve Harvey‘s story is coming to the big screen with a new biopic titled ‘Seventy-Two,’ currently being developed by Objectively Good Media (OGM). This project, authorized by Harvey, will focus on a significant moment in his career, giving fans an inside look at his journey in comedy and entertainment.

The film will be produced by Mohamed Kheir and Matthew R. Cooper from OGM, in collaboration with East 112, Harvey’s production company, which he runs with Thabiti Stephens, the Chief Strategy Officer of Steve Harvey Global. The idea for the movie was brought to Harvey by OGM, and he quickly connected with the concept.

“I’ve been reluctant to make a movie about my life for years until I read the pitch for ‘Seventy-Two,’” Harvey said. “It focuses on one of the most challenging moments in my career and shows the world that hope is never truly lost.”

‘Seventy-Two’ will focus on a key 72-hour period in 1993, right before Harvey’s performance at the Apollo Theatre, a moment that would help shape his career. At the time, Harvey was facing personal and professional hurdles after leaving a stable job years earlier to pursue comedy. The film aims to capture his determination during this period.

Mohamed Kheir from OGM noted, “We’re excited to share a story that highlights Steve’s ability to turn challenges into opportunities. This film will reflect the persistence that defines his career.”

Harvey’s rise from a stand-up comedian in the 1980s to a well-known entertainer includes hosting Showtime at the Apollo from 1993 to 2000 and starring in The Steve Harvey Show. He also gained more fame as part of the Kings of Comedy Tour, later turned into the documentary, The Original Kings of Comedy. His work on his daytime talk show, Steve Harvey, and his continued hosting roles on Family Feud and Celebrity Family Feud have also earned him numerous accolades. Harvey is also recognized for his books, motivational speaking, and various business ventures, showing his range beyond comedy.
