A$AP Rocky Charged With Assault After Being Accused of Shooting Former A$AP Mob Member Last November

A$AP Rocky has officially been charged with assault after being accused of shooting a former friend last November.

On Monday, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon announced that A$AP Rocky (real name Rakim Mayers) is being charged with two counts of assault with a semi-automatic firearm with allegations of using a gun personally.

“Discharging a gun in a public place is a serious offense that could have ended with tragic consequences not only for the person targeted but also for innocent bystanders visiting Hollywood,” said Gascón.

“My office conducted a thorough review of the evidence in this case and determined that the addition of a special firearm allegation was warranted.”

The date of his arraignment is set for Wednesday.

After arriving on a private plane from Barbados with Rihanna on April 20, Rocky was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport. He was later released after posting a $550,000 bond.

On November 6 last year, the rapper is said to have pointed a semi-automatic weapon at his former friend after a “heated dispute in Hollywood.” In the “subsequent confrontation,” he is said to have fired twice at the victim.

The incident is currently being looked into by the Robbery/Homicide Division of the Los Angeles Police Department.

According to Rolling Stone, Terell Ephron, a former member of the A$AP Mob who goes by the alias A$AP Relli, identified himself as the man Rocky is supposed to have shot and declared his intention to sue Rocky in civil court.

Relli’s lawyers told the outlet that Rocky lured him to an obscure location “to discuss a disagreement between them.”

“Unbeknownst to Mr. Ephron, A$AP Rocky was not just planning for a conversation and came armed with a semi-automatic handgun,” the statement alleges. “After arriving at the location, a conversation ensued whereby without provocation, warning, or any justification, A$AP Rocky produced the handgun and intentionally fired multiple shots at Mr. Ephron.”
