In an exclusive report by the Daily Mail, the alleged killer of a 19-year-old Black Lives Matter protester and a 75-year-old woman has admitted to killing both.
Viral protester Oluwatoyin Salau, 19, went missing on June 6, after posting a mysterious tweet that a black man had molested her. The bodies of Salau and Victoria Sims, 75, were discovered on Saturday in Tallahassee, Florida.
Aaron Glee, 49, was arrested on Sunday after the bodies were found near his home. According to his mother, Sandra Cutliff, that night, he called her from jail and confessed to murdering Salau, and Sims, whom he considered his “white grandmother.”
In an interview with the Daily Mail, Cutliff said her son struggled with mental health problems and has been going through a psychotic episode over that past few weeks. He was having auditory hallucinations and hearing loud music when there was none. She said she told him, “you need to get some help.” But his response would be that they wanted to “vaporize” him. He was picked up in February by police but refused to stay at the Appalachee Mental health center.
Glee reportedly told his mother that he met Salau on the bus, and from there, he invited her to his home to shower. After showering, he claims that the 19-year-old called him a “f——ass n—–” and bit him after he refused to give her the “Molly” she asked for. The racial slur triggered him, and he strangled her to death.
Salau was an active and vocal BLM protester. Her recent video, “can’t nobody silence me. It’s not that all lives don’t matter, but right now, our lives matter. Black Lives Matter” made its rounds on social media. She was an advocate against racism and police brutality on Twitter, and on a May 31 tweet said, “if your black trying to silence other black voices, please stay tf home there is no negotiating with racism. No justice, no justice, no peace.”
The death of Sims is believed to have happened at a later date; she was last seen on June 11. Apparently, Glee called her “Miss Vicky” his white-grandmother and would sometimes cook for her. During his telephone confession, he told his mother sometime after the murder of Salau, Sims came to his house to check on him. Allegedly she called him a “slob,” which sent him into a rage, and he killed her.
Sims was a long-time volunteer with AARP and attended Tallahassee Heights United Methodist Church. She leaves behind two daughters and several grandchildren.
Authorities have not been able to confirm that Glee is the same man Salau accused of molesting her. Before she disappeared, she tweeted several disturbing tweets informing people on social media that she was molested by a black man who offered her a ride.
However, Cutliff says her son did not sexually assault the victim and mentioned he does not have a vehicle. He does, however, have an extensive criminal record that dates back to 1989. He has robbery, grand theft auto, credit card fraud, and a conviction of throwing a deadly missile at a building. He also has a record of drug possessions and intent to sell.
He was recently arrested on May 30 for aggravated battery, which caused bodily harm. According to him, a female called him a “n—–” that day. Two days later, he posted his $2,500 bond and was released.
The Daily Mail also spoke with Sylvia Hubbard, head of Tallahassee charity, the Minority Alliance for Advocating Community Awareness and Action (MAACA), who personally worked with Glee for over a year. The charity assisted in paying for his food and bills. Hubbard met with Glee the day before Salau went missing to give him bus passes, she said she did not realize he was “crashing.”
“It’s affecting all of us. I was on my way to Aaron’s house on Thursday. I’m always fussing with him. Was I the next victim, would he have hurt me?’ she said. “He was crumbling around us, and we just failed him and didn’t realize it. In this case, had people been persistent in his medical treatment, this would not have happened.”
