Shayanna Jenkins-Hernandez, fiancee of Aaron Hernandez, the former New England Patriots player who took his life while serving a life sentence for murder, is breaking her silence in an upcoming interview with Dr. Phil.
In the two-part interview airing Monday and Tuesday, she tells Dr. Phil that she did not know Hernandez would take his life, despite the suicide letter he left where he says he ‘what was coming indirectly’.
“Our last talk had nothing to do with suicidal thoughts,” said Shayanna. In fact, she says that when she was told that Aaron had commit suicide, she didn’t believe it because he seemed so optimistic. “I thought it was a hoax, that this was some cruel person playing a joke on me.”
“I felt like we were looking so bright,” she recalls. “We were going up a ladder to a positive direction.”
Dr. Phil also talks about the judge’s decision to throw out Hernandez’s guilty verdict and the possibility that he killed himself so that she could collect the rest of his Patriots contract. Legal experts tell Daily Mail that it’s highly unlikely that Shayanna will be able to claim the remainder of Hernandez’s salary since he likely signed documents preventing future payouts when he settled with the Patriots in 2014. Also, the team could likely argue that Hernandez was in violation of his contract for even being suspected of the murder in the first place.
At this point, we will just have to wait and see how things play out. Will you be tuning in to Shayanna’s Dr. Phil interview?
