As the days go by, we’re still faced with a lot of uncertainty regarding the coronavirus pandemic.
However, as numbers begin to decrease, states are beginning to ease up on their stay-at-home orders and lift restrictions for many businesses.
However, we’re not out of the woods yet, as experts warn a second wave of the virus is likely.
“As communities reopen, we’re starting to detect evidence of resurgence in cases in places that have overreached a bit,” PolicyLab Director, David Rubin said in a statement to The Washington Post.
Many are left wondering where that leaves us regarding a national lockdown, but according to #DonaldTrump, shutting down the country is not an option.
“People say that’s a very distinct possibility. It’s standard. And we’re going to put out the fires. We’re not going to close the country. We’re going to put out the fires,” Trump told press on Thursday. “Whether it’s an ember or a flame, we’re going to put it out. But we’re not closing our country.”
With no plan in place to prevent a second wave of the virus from spreading, people are going to have to continue to follow safety measures, including social distancing, until a safe vaccine for the virus is created.
