On Tuesday, two people were seriously wounded, and a gunman was killed after a shoot-out took place at a Maryland business park, while the US Navy announced an “active shooter incident” involving sailors at Fort Detrick.
According to Frederick Police Chief Jason Lando, the gunman entered a business that caused people inside to run. The police chief was unable to specify whether the shooting occurred inside or outside but did say that the gunman drove about 10 minutes to Fort Detrick after the shooting and was killed there. The first shooting occurred about 4 miles from Fort Detrick at the Riverside Tech Park.
Lando said, “We have two different scenes. All I can tell you is that we have confirmed there is only one shooter. The public is no longer at risk. Everyone is safe.”
According to Jeremy Mutschler, director of marketing for Nicolock Paving Stones, the shooting occurred near the company’s Frederick location but not at the company itself.
Mutschler said, “One of the victims who was wounded entered our facility looking for help, and we were able to assist and call the authorities.”
