Middleton Police Department is responding to an active shooter inside a commercial building in Madison, Wisconsin, 90 miles west of Milwaukee.
According to NBC15, several people may have been shot and the shooter is down. Information has been coming from people inside the building that stores Esker Software, but it has yet to be confirmed by the police.
Dane County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Elise Schaffer confirmed there is an ‘active shooter situation’ and that the office is assisting Middleton Police with the response. No additional information has been provided.

Oh my goodness, this is definitely terrifying. My coronary heart goes out to anybody affected through this horrific incident. It’s devastating to hear about yet another active shooter situation, especially in a place like Wisconsin that we often associate with safety and community.
I hope and pray that the injured individuals receive immediate medical attention and recover swiftly. It’s incredibly distressing to think about the fear and chaos that must be unfolding inside that software building right now. The fact that the shooter is reportedly down brings some relief, but we must not forget the lasting impact this will have on the victims and their families.
