Actor Danny Trejo has addressed the viral clip that shows him being involved in a physical altercation.
Last week, a video surfaced online of multiple people circling around Trejo’s vehicle and yelling “no water” after water balloons were thrown at his car. Moments later, the “Desperado” actor exits the vehicle to confront a group of individuals standing on a curb nearby. Trejo then punches one of the guys in the crowd, followed by a chair, before getting knocked down to the ground.
After the clip made its way to social media, many users did not appreciate the treatment the famed actor received. However, Trejo later spoke to TMZ and revealed that he wasn’t punched down but “stepped back” and “fell off the curb” due to a man attempting to grab him.

“I’m so sad that I behaved the way I behaved,” the 80-year-old actor said. “I’m so sad that grown men gotta throw water balloons to enjoy a day. I don’t think I would’ve even got out of the car if somebody hadn’t yelled, ‘It’s acid!’ That’s when I got panicked. When I got out of the car — boom! — then a balloon hit me. Then I look up and I see a guy holding [one]. I went over [and said,] ‘What in the hell is wrong with you?'”
Additionally, Trejo continued to express his regret and hinted at believing the incident was racially motivated.
“I’m sad. I’m just sad,” he added. “There’s still people like from the ’50s and ’60s that still feel the same way, because no one else was targeted. No one else was targeted.”

Trejo’s friend, who was present during the fight, Mario Castillo, also addressed the altercation and claimed that the attack was targeted.
“It was targeted,” Castillo said. “There was nobody else who was getting hit with balloons in front of us or behind us. They were just at our lowriders.”
Nevertheless, Trejo says he did not sustain any injuries and jokingly mocked the individuals who attacked him.
“I’m alright. They couldn’t hurt me,” Trejo stated. “It was sad… I would be embarrassed if I attacked an 80-year-old man and he’s still talking and laughing.”
