In a warming effort to lend a helping hand to families impacted by the devastating Los Angeles wildfires, actress Tika Sumpter is one of the latest celebrities to step up to assist with relief.
On Friday, the 44-year-old star took to social media to share that she’s donating her baby items to families who are in need.
Sumpter, who shares an 8-year-old daughter with her husband Nicholas James, explained that she held onto her baby’s items for years because she believed she would get another use out of them. While this might not have been the ideal usage Sumpter had planned for the items, she seems to prefer this route more.
“This is stuff from our own personal baby items that we’ve had that I’ve kept for far too long, thinking one day I would need them again,” Sumpter shared on her Instagram Story. “But it’s some really good stuff and I just want to give it away to people who actually need it right now.”
Earlier that day, Sumpter shared a photo on her Instagram account of a room filled with boxes of strollers, baby clothes, bottles, car seats, toys, and other items. She captioned the post, “We hope we can be of service to those who lost everything and need a bit of hope and care,” which highlighted her drive to be a kind soul during the tragic time for Los Angeles residents.
Nonetheless, Sumpter also shared her own experience with the wildfires and described the fear she felt when landing in Los Angeles during the disastrous conditions.
“I’m sitting here right now looking at the L.A. sky,” she wrote, adding, “There’s nothing of value to me that is worth my life, or my daughter’s or husband’s life.”
