Adele Expresses Guilt Over Making Son Unhappy With Divorce

Ahead of her long-awaited forthcoming album, Adele is opening up about her life since the release of her last project six years ago.

The Grammy-award-winning vocalist sat down with both American Vogue and British Vogue for her first interviews since 2016, shortly after the release of her diamond-selling “25.” The 33-year-old addressed her divorce from Simon Konecki in 2019, with whom she shares an 8-year-old son, Angelo Adkins.

“My son has had a lot of questions. Really good questions, really innocent questions, that I just don’t have an answer for,” the “Hello” singer confessed before adding that Angelo often asks why the family no longer lives together. She says that choosing to step away from her marriage made her young son “really unhappy sometimes,” which is a “real wound” for her.

Despite knowing that it was time to leave the marriage, Adele says it was not due to scandals. Instead, the union was simply no longer suitable for her. The often private international star also confirmed that she is now dating sports agent Rich Paul.

Moving away from her love life, another pressing topic that fans were eager to know about was her stunning weight loss. She revealed that she dropped 100 pounds in two years after becoming “addicted” to working out to alleviate her anxiety. While losing weight was never the goal, it was inevitable as she worked out two to three times a day with trainers. Adele says that she is unphased by people making a big deal about her weight loss.

“People have been talking about my body for 12 years. They used to talk about it before I lost weight. But yeah, whatever, I don’t care. You don’t need to be overweight to be body-positive. You can be any shape or size.”

In her American Vogue interview, the singer expressed her adoration for Beyoncé and reiterated that “Lemonade” should have walked away with the award for Album of the Year at the 2017 Grammys. Adele famously acknowledged that during her acceptance speech for the top honor.

“For my friends who are women of color, it was such a huge acknowledgment for them, of the sort of undermined grief that they go through,” she says of “Lemonade.”

“For her to nail that on the head and also bring in the entire globe? I was like, ‘This album is my album. She just knows what I’m going through.’ That album was not written for me. But yet I could still feel like this is the biggest gift.”
