Adele has been making headlines recently, this time not for her music, but for her 100-pound weight loss.
In her first Instagram post of 2020, the singer posted a photo of herself in a black mini dress and heels to commemorate her 32nd birthday, sending the internet into a frenzy. The singer has been working on more than just her body, focusing on getting her mind right, too.
“In the past, the stress from balancing work and being a mom was intense,” a friend of the singer told People magazine. “She wanted to find a way to balance things better.”
Adele, mom to 7-year-old Angelo, began making healthier lifestyle choices to combat the stress of motherhood and balancing her successful career.
Last year, Adele implemented a healthier lifestyle by cutting back on alcohol, following an exercise regimen, and she is “now in a very good place both physically and mentally,” according to the friend.
“She quit smoking, reduced her drinking, got rid of sugar, and stopped eating processed foods,” her former London-based trainer Pete Geracimo told People. Geracimo worked with Adele to get her ready for her 2016 and 2017 world tour.
This is not the first time she has posted a photo that sparked conversations about her weight loss. In October, Adele posted a photo with the caption, “I used to cry, but now I sweat,” alluding to working out more and looking noticeably thinner.
Then in December, she posted a photo to Instagram from her Christmas party that began trending. Fans claimed the singer was unrecognizable. At the time, Adele had been very open about her 20-pound weight loss following her divorce from Simon Konecki.
