Adidas is reimagining its iconic Superstar sneakers, transforming them into roller skates, and the first look is just as legendary as the original design.
The Adidas Superstar has long been a cultural symbol, worn by a range of artists, athletes, and creatives over its impressive 50-year legacy. In the ’70s, most professional basketball players sported the low-top silhouette. In the ’80s and ’90s, hip-hop legends like Run DMC helped endorse the shoe, cementing its place in hip-hop history. By the 2000s, streetwear enthusiasts grabbed hold of the Superstar, thanks to collaborations with brands such as Bape and Union LA.
Despite several renditions of the Superstar, it didn’t appear that roller skates were ever on the brand’s radar until now. Leaked images, courtesy of House of Heat, reveal a high-top version of the shoe designed for roller-skating. The fresh design comes in black, silver metallic, and magenta shades, retaining the Superstar’s signature leather upper, shell toe, and iconic Three Stripes along the midfoot. The sole, however, has been outfitted with four sleek, all-black wheels bearing the Adidas logo.
Though Adidas has yet to announce an official release date for the Superstar Roller Skates, they are expected to drop sometime in 2025.
