NFL icon Adrian Peterson has been arrested once again—this time in his home state of Texas—for allegedly driving under the influence while carrying a weapon.
According to TMZ, the arrest occurred Sunday morning in Sugar Land, Texas. Online jail records confirm the 38-year-old was taken into custody around 10 AM and booked on two charges: driving while intoxicated and unlawful carrying of a weapon. Details about the traffic stop have not yet been released, but authorities say the investigation is ongoing.
This marks Peterson’s second DWI arrest this year. In April, the former Minnesota Vikings star was stopped in Minnesota shortly after attending a team draft party. A police officer reportedly observed him driving 83 miles per hour in a 55 MPH zone at approximately 3 AM. Peterson was arrested at the scene, and his blood alcohol content later measured at .14%—nearly twice the legal limit of .08 in Minnesota.
Peterson, widely regarded as one of the greatest running backs in NFL history, played 15 seasons in the league and suited up for seven different teams. He’s best remembered for his dominant tenure with the Minnesota Vikings, where he earned MVP honors in 2012. Over the course of his career, he rushed for over 14,000 yards and scored 126 touchdowns.
The Texas native was born in the small town of Palestine, roughly three hours north of Sugar Land.
Peterson has not publicly commented on his latest arrest.
