Vikings RB Adrian Peterson will plead no contest to one count of misdemeanor reckless assault and in return receive no jail time, according to an NFL insider. Peterson will also be placed on probation, pay a $4,000 fine and serve 80 hours of community service.
Standing outside of the Montgomery County (Texas) courthouse Peterson released a statement, “I’m sorry for my actions. I love my son more than any one of you can even imagine. I’m looking forward to and I’m anxious to continue my relationship with my child. I’m just glad this is over, I can put this behind me and me and my family can move forward.”
This might be just what Peterson needs to return to the field. Earlier today the NFL said, “We will review the matter and make a determination. We cannot provide a timetable.” We’ll just have to see what the league decides.
