Adrian Peterson Will Not Face Charges In Domestic Violence Incident

Adrian Peterson and his wife are both proclaiming his innocence following his domestic violence arrest.

The free-agent running back was arrested on Sunday by LAX airport police. Reports claim that a plane taking off for Houston had to return to the gate after a verbal and physical altercation took place between Peterson and his wife, Ashley. It was initially reported that he was charged with felony domestic violence. However, on Tuesday, a representative from the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office told TMZ that they would not press charges against the 36-year-old. He could still face misdemeanor charges in the case.

“It’s blown out of proportion. Me and the wife got into an argument on the plane. That was pretty much the gist of it. I ended up grabbing her hand and taking her ring off her finger,” Peterson explained following his arrest. He says police told him that since she had a scratch on her finger, that was cause for him to be arrested.

Ashley also says that “at no point” did Peterson hit her and called the incident a “private matter” between them.
