There have been rumors that 106 & Park would be going off the air for a while and we reported several months ago that current hosts Keshia Chante & Shad “Bow Wow” Moss are looking to expand their resumes. We do know that Bow Wow is currently filming episodes of CSI and I’m sure Keshia will be coming up back up plan too because BET has announced that next month 106 & Park will no longer air on the BET Network and will be going digital only.
On December 19th the 14 year old video countdown show will air its final episode on the BET Network. They will continue to produce various specials throughout the year, including its annual New Year’s Eve show, 106 & Party, along with live event experiences at the BET Awards and BET Experience. In 2015, 106 & Park will return to BET.com. No word on who the hosts will be.
I was fortunate enough to be featured on the first episode of the latest season (August 15) when 106 introduced a new stage and format. It kind of looked like they were figuring out different ways to grasp viewers but unfortunately, all of the die hard 106 fans are pushing 30 and not watching TV the way we used to. I wonder what BET will put in its time-slot. That was definitely one of the few original programs it had left.
