Rebekah Jones, a former Department of Health data scientist, had a rude awakening on Monday. Agents infiltrated her home, confiscating computers and hardware. Jones, who created the dashboard for COVID-19 in Florida, was fired for insubordination in May.
“They pointed guns in my face. They pointed guns at my children,” Jones tweeted.

A complaint was filed by the Florida Department of Health, which warranted the search and seizure. Jones created another dashboard program after she was fired. A video shows an agent entering her home, pointing a gun at her, calling for her husband and children to come down the stairs as they searched the home.
“FDLE began an investigation November 10, 2020, after receiving a complaint from the Department of Health regarding unauthorized access to a Department of Health messaging system which is part of an emergency alert system, to be used for emergencies only,” Gretl Plessinger, an FDLE spokeswoman, said in a statement.
“As in all cases, our role is to determine the facts of what happened and a State Attorney determines whether or not charges are filed.”
Jones claims that she was fired for refusing to manipulate data.
“They took my phone and the computer I use every day to post the case numbers in Florida and school cases for the entire country. They took evidence of corruption at the state level. They claimed it was about a security breach. This was DeSantis. He sent the Gestapo,” she tweeted.
Someone gained access to the health system and sent out a mass message that read: “It’s time to speak up before another 17,000 people are dead. You know this is wrong. You don’t have to be part of this. Be a herp. Speak out before it’s too late.”
According to FDLE investigators, Jones’s Comcast account was associated with the ESF8 mass text message that was sent to over 1,750 recipients.
Jones talked to USA Today and told them that the Department of Health was firing many people.
“It’s like a massacre. And those aren’t the only people that have been fired or left,” Jones said.
Gov. “DeSantis needs to worry less about what I’m writing about and more about the people who are sick and dying… doing this to me will not stop me from reporting the data. Ever.”
