Airbnb is partnering with viral Thanksgiving friends Jamal Hinton and Wanda Dench to allow fans to dine with them this year.
Many people have been following the story of Hinton and Dench. The two met in 2016 after Dench mistakenly sent a text message to Hinton believing she was inviting her grandchild to Thanksgiving dinner. She ended the message with “your grandma” and even sent a selfie to Hinton. However, he quickly informed her that she had the wrong number and sent a selfie of his own with the question, “Can I still get a plate tho?” Dench told him, “Of course,” and Hinton has spent every Thanksgiving since with Dench and her family. Now, others can spend time with the viral pair.
Two guests at a time can book a private room in Dench’s home for one night on November 20th at just $16. They will also be able to mingle with Dench and Hinton, partaking in dinner, board games, hot cocoa, and other activities with the pair. The dinner served to guests will include holiday favorites such as pumpkin pie, turkey, and mashed potatoes. Hinton says he is most excited to meet new people.
“For me, it’s always the great conversations. I mean, me and Wanda, we talk about anything. We talked about tattoos, we talk about conspiracies that we think of, we talk about our families, we talk about our goals and our future and things that we want to accomplish and do,” Hinton explained to USA Today, something that Dench also agrees with.
“That would be pretty cool to see people wanting to share a good experience and then open it up to other strangers as well,” she added.
Airbnb will donate the proceeds from the stay to the hunger relief organization Feeding America.
