With plane passengers misbehaving more than ever, the Federal Aviation Administration is taking additional steps to deter passengers from acting up on flights.
Unruly passengers already face fines and bans, but now you could lose another privilege. The FAA is teaming up with the Transportation Security Administration to revoke TSA PreCheck.
If you refuse to wear a mask, threaten or assault the airline crew, you will find yourself back on those long security lines at the airport. The FAA said it would share information regarding passengers facing fines for acting out with the TSA.
“If you act out of line, you will wait in line,” said FAA Administrator Steve Dickson in a statement. “Our partnership aims to promote safe and responsible passenger behavior. One unruly incident is one too many.”
For just $85 for five years, PreCheck makes it much easier to get through airport security. Passengers with PreCheck pass through a dedicated line and do not have to remove their shoes, approved liquids, or electronics from their bag to move through security screening.
Now, passengers facing fines will lose those perks “for a period of time.” The suspension of privileges will depend on the seriousness of the offense and if the person has a history of regulatory violations.
Recently, there has been a record number of passengers misbehaving. Of the 5,664 complaints received this year, 4,000 of them involved masks.
